Buranchi Ceramic Vase, Matte Black

$198 USD

Designed by Bloomist in collaboration with renowned stylist / author Hillary Robertson, this tall, tapered ceramic vase is hand-crafted in small batches and slip cast by artificial designer and ceramist, Misicho Shamda in Brick Lane. The straight shape is matte and weighs well with a narrow neck, making it ideal for forcing long, single branches, wild dry grasses, false amaranthos (pictured), or shin branches.

Originally from Japan, Michiko Shimada studied at the Parsons School of Design and developed an interest in handicraft ceramics. After graduation, he worked for many years as a handmade designer for a ceramic manufacturer in New York until he jumped into making his own line of handmade ceramics. Since 2009, Michiko has been working at his Brooklyn studio to specialize in slip cast ceramics. Simple, practical, beautiful and golden, Machiko's work is carefully crafted in small batches. In a world where so many things are mass-produced and disposable, Mikiko values craftsmanship, and from the original model to the finished pieces - entirely by hand.
